The harmful precedent a Trump over constitution decision set by The G.O.P. means for a continuation of history of democracy

February 2021, sees a rather unconventional beginning to the first weeks of a newly elected president to office. Not before in America’s couple of hundred years of history as a liberal democratic nation seen an out going president been impeached in the House of Representatives for inciting violence on government and state property impeding on the democratic process of confirmation of a president in the count of the electoral collage votes. As Democrat senator and majority leader in the senate says by any means of the words Trump is guilty of threatening the lives of the politicians people on the property and the fabric of a peaceful transfer of powers in a fashion that respects law and order.

What we saw is the 45th president and Republican senators bar seven from a Conservative party not defending the principles of conservatism but their own backs for what. The fear of that they are compelled to do what now retired politician in Florida who spends his days playing golf with his wife at the spa for most of the day. The fear I assume is that it’s not over with 70 million votes for Trump. A guilty president saw his party who he was president for accepting Trumpism over national security and proving the party as any values as a broadchruch of Conservative thinkers and now making moderates of the party politically homeless. How far does it have to go for McConnell to not only condemn him in words but to votes. How callous are the Grand old party if they allow their institutions and establishments to be trampled on and possibly providing an open door for Trumpian supporters into and influence of the direction of the party. This gives a sign of the fragility of American democracy when this new precedent from the senate means it can happen again.

Trump sees it an open opportunity that it is a beginning for his ‘Make America Great Again’ white supremacist nationalist caucus of large and militant fringe of American politics and gives an open door if the senate couldn’t galvanise against violence incited from the then president. How far will trump go with his continued endeavours but it sparks a massive headache that could split the Republican Party as it becomes one focused on one politics. McConnell had proven himself as a great hypocrite in a pivotal moment of America’s history he could have told the nation by a vote that he condemns the anarchic, ruthless and violent attacks on America’s that is truly an attack and coup like attempt never seen in the countries history. He was compelled to vote that the 45th president was not guilty on the grounds of the constitutionality of whether it is constitutional to vote to convict an impeached president after he has left office. Though when McConnell was majority of the house could’ve held the impeachment trial in his final week in office prior to the inauguration of Joe Biden.

Cowardly act from McConnell that followed with him stating condemnation in words not in votes which in my opinion didn’t give him the right to say what he did ‘Trumps actions that preceded the riot were a disgraceful, disgraceful dereliction of his duty.’ So why didn’t he act on impeaching and removing him from office. Purely because he has no moral sanctimony and no principle or vertebrate unsurprising for Congresses sceptic of Trump as he tries to paint but in reality one of the greatest suck ups in 21st century politics. He has allowed for a gateway and an end of Reaganism republicanism and moderate conservative politics but an open playing field for trump snd trumpism to regain power of both the party and the nation yet again.

The of 6th January 2021 saw Trump on the phone to a congress member assuming the protesters as first were from the ANTIFA anti fascist movement which has seen a resurgence in the Trump presidency then were informed it was his protesters, his supporters. Then told the congress person that they didn’t care about the election or it’s outcome as Trump by any means wanted to retain his position in power. His supporters on the day wanted to murder the Republican Vice President and Conservative congressman Mike Pence. Mitch McConnell could’ve shown on ounce of compassion for the threats in his own party and 43 other senators for their colleagues their allies and opposition as they could’ve been murdered that day. The 43 senators said by voting to declare Trump as not guilty in the second impeachment against the disgraced erstwhile president that on a violent attack on democracy they only care about their selves and them only.

The Republican congressional senators the 43 who voted that Trump wasn’t guilty of inciting violence and breached his constitutional duty to act as president and defend citizens human rights and protect the safety of its citizens conditional rights sets a dangerous precedent that law and order and Conservative values don’t matter if it doesn’t respect the grotesque and harrowing partisan and ideological self interests of retaining in power. Sets the precedent that america hasn’t moved much from its past and the healing of divisions that Joe Biden spoke about on the capitol on the 20th of January to begin to heal the divide and turn down the temperature down on polarising partisan discourse and focus on uniting and healing a broken democracies. The Republican senators he talked to took those words and unsparingly voted against them making the 46th president job of cleaning his predecessors mess up a lot harder. I would advise moderate conservatives like Mitt Romney and the other six Republican senators who voted that Trump was guilty of inciting violence to leave and resign membership and association to the Republican Party as its now Trump’s party and no Conservative broadchurch.

The decision emphasises the flaws in a broken democracy that the western democracies are now becoming stale and stagnant and with the rise of autocracy and totalitarian populism. Western democracies need to rebrand enhance and reform democracy rather than just protecting the status quo otherwise risks the system of democracies weakening to the growing powers of a technocratic China which by this decision is something all defenders of democracy must question. Where is it going?
